The Westcreek Neighborhood Association will be participating again this year in the Clean Sweep Event on Saturday April 10th and we are looking for volunteers! We will be cleaning up trash along Williamson Creek near the Brush Country Bridge and also along a drainage behind some houses near the dead end of Brush Country. This is a fun community event with a volunteer party afterwards at Waterloo Park. Sign up early to get a t-shirt!
If you would like to volunteer, either email Trudy Hasan directly or sign up online at: http://www.keepaustinbeautiful.org/CleanSweep.

Just wanted to put in a good word for Steve’s Plumbing. He has supported the newsletter frequently, so I called (276-7476) and found he was prompt, courteous, and professional.

With the increased awareness of identity theft, it’s important to dispose of personal records carefully. To highlight this, the Austin Chapter of ARMA International, Financial Fitness Greater Austin and the City of Austin is sponsoring a Free event to help individuals and families with:
• Home records management
• Identity theft protection
• Recycling
Households can bring up to five file boxes of paper records for shredding. Mobile shredding trucks from Austin Shred, a Balcones Resource Company, CenTex Shred, Certified Shred LLC, Iron Mountain and Intel Armor will be on-site to shred the material.
Restrictions:
• No wet material
• No plastics/binders
• No electronic media
• No three-ring binders
In lieu of a fee for the service, monetary donations will be accepted for the Capital Area Food Bank.

Westcreek Bulk Collection Begins
Posted by elainepozos in Events on February 20th, 2010

Residential Bulk Collection:
Guidelines
Place bulky items at the curb in front of your house by 6:30 a.m. on the first day of your scheduled collection week.
Separate items into three piles as described below:
- Metal items, including most appliances (doors removed), should be put in one pile. These are taken to our Landfill Diversion Center for recycling.
- Passenger car tires should be put in a separate pile to go to a tire recycling facility. Tires must be removed from the rims and there is a limit of eight per household. We cannot collect truck or tractor tires.
- Non-metal items, such as carpeting and nail-free lumber, should be placed in a single pile. These items go to a landfill.
Because these piles are collected by different trucks, they may be collected at different times throughout the week.
To prevent damage to your property, keep items five feet away from your garbage cart, mailbox, fences or walls, water meter, telephone connection box and parked cars. Do not place any items under low hanging tree limbs or power lines.
Do not put items in bags, boxes or other containers. Bulk collection is for items too large to fit in containers. Bags will be treated as extra garbage and are subject to extra garbage fees.
