Large Brush Collection

April 12, 2010
6:30 am

Large Brush Collection will begin April 12, 2010 for the Westcreek Neighborhood. Branches over 3 inches in diameter and up to 15 feet long are collected during specially-scheduled large brush collections. Large brush must be at the curb in front of your house by 6:30 a.m. on the first day of the scheduled collection week(s).

Large brush should be stacked, unbound, in one row along the curb with the cut ends facing the street. The row should be no more than 15 feet long and four feet high. Anything beyond this amount will not be collected unless you have made prior arrangements to pay additional fees.

Large brush will not be collected if it’s inaccessible. Place your large brush about five feet from your garbage cart and other potential obstacles such as mail boxes, fences, walls, water meters, telephone connection boxes and parked cars. Avoid placing large brush under low-hanging tree limbs or power lines.

Solid Waste Services cannot collect the following items during large brush collections:

- Bamboo, cactus, vines, rose bushes or vegetation with thorns. (These can be included with your weekly yard trimmings collection. Cactus, rose bushes and thorny branches should be wrapped in cardboard or several layers of newspaper before being placed in a reusable container or paper yard waste bag on your yard trimmings collection day.)
- Yard trimmings (grass, leaves and small branches)
- Garbage
- Bulky items

Patton PTA Fundraiser Schlotzsky’s Night

May 25, 2010
4:00 pmto10:00 pm

On March 30 from 4-10 p.m. Schlotzsky’s on Brodie Lane will hold a Patton Night. This optional fundraiser will allow the Patton PTA to receive 20% of the donated receipts.

When you go to Schlotzsky’s there will be balloons and a sign “Patton Night” with a gold wrapped box. If you “drive-thru” just tell them to put your receipt in the Patton Box.  Schlotzky’s will even print a duplicate receipt if you need to keep a copy for yourself.

Again the hours are  4-10PM, but Patton parents have reported going in for lunch and the box was already out on the counter. Mark your calendars now for the April 27 and May 25 Patton Nights.  Thank you for your participation!

Patton PTA Fundraiser: Taco Cabana Night

March 10, 2010
5:00 pmto9:00 pm

Visit Taco Cabana on Wm. Cannon and Mo-Pac on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 5-9 PM. This is an optional, but easy, fundraiser to raise funds for our schools while feeding the family.

When ordering, tell the cashier you are there to support Patton. 20% of all food and drink sales (including beer and margaritas) go to the Patton PTA! If you want to order to go, please order from inside the restaurant so Patton will benefit and you can say hello to your friends.

Again, this is an optional fundraiser. A good answer to children who beg to attend a fundraiser is to say that “we chose not to spend our money that way.” Thank you again for all you do for Patton.

AISD Plan 3 Approved

From Patton PTA President, Jennifer Newell:

[On Monday, February 22] the AISD approved plan 3 (vote 7 to 2) on the boundaries issue with the recomendations of grandfathering and that Boone and Sunset Valley maintian their current staffing level at the expense of the board for at least one year.

What that means to Patton is that our current boarders will stay the same (the Monterey Oak Apts will continue to stay at Patton) and we will get some additional students from Oak Hill.

Westcreek Bulk Collection Begins

March 15, 2010

Residential Bulk Collection:
Guidelines

Place bulky items at the curb in front of your house by 6:30 a.m. on the first day of your scheduled collection week.

Separate items into three piles as described below:

  1. Metal items, including most appliances (doors removed), should be put in one pile. These are taken to our Landfill Diversion Center for recycling.
  2. Passenger car tires should be put in a separate pile to go to a tire recycling facility. Tires must be removed from the rims and there is a limit of eight per household. We cannot collect truck or tractor tires.
  3. Non-metal items, such as carpeting and nail-free lumber, should be placed in a single pile. These items go to a landfill.

Because these piles are collected by different trucks, they may be collected at different times throughout the week.

To prevent damage to your property, keep items five feet away from your garbage cart, mailbox, fences or walls, water meter, telephone connection box and parked cars. Do not place any items under low hanging tree limbs or power lines.

Do not put items in bags, boxes or other containers. Bulk collection is for items too large to fit in containers. Bags will be treated as extra garbage and are subject to extra garbage fees.
