May 2011 Yard of the Month

Sandra and John Tyndall at 5006 Summerset are the winners of the Yard of the Month for May.
John gives Sandra the credit for the yard and says that it is all her hard work.  Sandra tells us that she prefers plants other than native.  Living on the greenbelt, the native plants there attract the deer and other critters, so she steers away from them in her yard!  Her yard has been a lot of trial and error.
One can’t help but admire the beautiful crape myrtle trees that line the parkway along the curb.  They are so beautiful and create so much shade and color! Sandra said that when she moved in to the house in 1992, they were just little bushes! She recommends trimming the saplings
so the trees grow straight up instead of bushy.
We also loved the stunning butterfly bench that adorns her front yard!  Sandra loves butterflies, thus the bench was a gift to her from her children.

Joshua and Tyler.

Pet Grooming Recommendations

Westcreek neighbors love their pets! When asked recently for pet grooming suggestions this is what they said:

Submitted by Kelly Poore on 5/7/2011

I use a guy named Kevin Ryan for my poodle mix. He lives in S Austin and grooms at his appartment. He is very much a home business, but I like that about him. He is also reasonably priced and fairly easy to schedule. His company is called Clean Critters of Austin and his number is (512)-731-7445. His e-mail is mckeev005@yahoo.com.

I used Dirty Dog.  on William Cannon and Manchaca.  They charged $45, which is $10 more then I pay in L.A., but she did a fabulous job.

April 2011 Yard of the Month

Yard of the Month for April goes to Ben and Carol Coughran on 6206 Myra Court.  Ben served on the WNA Executive Board for 9 years, and he and his wife, Carol, and their 16 year old poodle, Ellen, have lived in Westcreek for 20 years.  Ben is retired from the Air Force where he served as a meteorologist.  He then worked for the State of Texas in Environmental Quality and is now retired from that service.  Ben has recently installed a weather station at his house, which allows us to get the current weather statistics in our neighborhood.  Ben takes great pride in keeping well-manicured yard with seasonal color.
Myra Cove is off the “beaten path” as it is at the end of Yellow Rose Trail.  Take a moment to turn onto Yellow Rose Trail to see your neighbor’s yard on Myra Cove!

    Westcreek Neighbor’s Roofing Recommendations

Submitted by Eric Cuellar on 4/6/2011

Oliver Roofing Company is great! Dan Cuellar is great and took care of all of our needs as if he was working on his own home. Call 512-834-7500.

Submitted by Ann Huber on 4/6/2011

We used PetersonDean Roofing & Solar Systems (formerly Brinkman) , Phone 252-8196

They removed the corrugated iron and plastic roofing from our 10ft x 30ft patio in December.  We noticed them working on a house behind us and called for an appointment and estimate.  We were very pleased with their work and the supervisor was very knowledgeable. They had to improve on the junction between the house roof and the patio roof.  No leaking so far!

Submitted by Trina Barlow on 4/5/2011

Wilson Roofing – did great work for us on new roof and an addition on our patio.
