Westcreek Plans for National Night Out 2010

27th Annual National Night Out – Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 6 to 9 p.m.

Attention Westcreek! Calling all neighbors…turn on your porch lights, lock your doors and spend the evening outside with your neighbors, police officers, firefighters and EMS paramedics. Consider hosting an event here in Westcreek, such as a cookout, block party or neighborhood walk. Events will occur simultaneously throughout the city and the entire nation! Let’s continue to strengthen our community, show our support for first responders, meet our neighbors, and send a message to criminals that we are unified in fighting crime.

Are you interested in hosting/co-hosting a block party? If so, go to the City’s web site for an application and turn it in as soon as possible

via fax (512) 974-6222 or to the following address:

Community Dialogue about Austin ISD School Facilities

If you have ever wondered why there is not a high school to relieve the overcrowding at both Austin High School and Bowie High School, here’s your chance to provide public input to AISD.

In the last AISD Bond package, money was approved to purchase land for a future High School. I’ve heard that it could be in northern Hays County, it could be far southeast, or it could even be a magnet school. The AISD Board is now asking for input on what type of secondary education facility the “public” desires. Now is your chance to tell them! If you don’t participate, the School Board will do what they want, because they sense you just don’t care. Please mark your calendar. Travis High is just west of IH-35 on Oltorf.

Your insights and opinions will help shape the future of public education
in Austin. Please attend, listen, and speak up. Bring your neighbors and
friends.

Discuss issues that directly impact our public school facilities with educators, parents, students, civic and business leaders, and other engaged community members. The Power of Your Voice Will Help Guide the Emerging Facility Master Plan for Austin Schools.

Thursday, May 20, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Travis High School, Cafeteria
1211 E. Oltorf St.

Refreshments and child care provided.

Large brush must be at the curb in front of your house by 6:30 a.m. on the first day of the scheduled collection week(s).

Large brush should be stacked, unbound, in one row along the curb with the cut ends facing the street. The row should be no more than 15 feet long and four feet high. Anything beyond this amount will not be collected unless you have made prior arrangements to pay additional fees.

Patton PTA Fundraiser Schlotzsky’s Night

On March 30 from 4-10 p.m. Schlotzsky’s on Brodie Lane will hold a Patton Night. This optional fundraiser will allow the Patton PTA to receive 20% of the donated receipts.

When you go to Schlotzsky’s there will be balloons and a sign “Patton Night” with a gold wrapped box. If you “drive-thru” just tell them to put your receipt in the Patton Box.  Schlotzky’s will even print a duplicate receipt if you need to keep a copy for yourself.

Again the hours are  4-10PM, but Patton parents have reported going in for lunch and the box was already out on the counter. Mark your calendars now for the April 27 and May 25 Patton Nights.  Thank you for your participation!
