Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

April 19, 2005


Executive Committee members present: Jan Boswell, Karen Gregory, Ben Coughran, Barry Kalda, Bob Shrader, Alicia Ortiz,


1. Minutes were approved.


2. Treasurer’s Report. 184 members have paid dues for 2005. Cash available is $11,851.78.


3. Newsletter Articles. 1) SW Marketplace name contest will be dropped since “The Shops at the Arbors” will remain the name (Bob); 2) Possible damage to oak trees from the worms (Bob); 3) Recipes and an article asking for readers’ favorites (Karen - Bob will submit his Shoe Peg Salad recipe this month); 4) Emerald Garden’s tip of the month (Jan); 5) Quarterly meeting reminder (door prize will be a Westcreek Newcomer bag); 6) The property on Old Fredericksburg Road (Ben); 7) Speeding and the Soccer Field (Bob); 8) The William Cannon and Mopac project (Bob).


4. Speaker for June 13 quarterly meeting. Peter E. Freeman with Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services will discuss bioterrorism. Another possible speaker that was proposed was a master gardener.


5. Letter to Misty Harper. The committee approved of the approval letter of the proposed addition to the home at 4805 White Elm Drive.


6. Discussion of Code Violators in Westcreek. Discussed going to two neighborhood sweeps a year and agreed on November 5, 2005 to be the next inspection.


7. Loose Dogs. The article in the newsletter, written by the little girl will be sent to the Austin City Council, City of Austin Animal Control, and the Oak Hill Gazette.


8. Cats poisoned on Summerset Trail. The committee agreed that this is a matter of the Austin Police Department.


9. Do we list real estate brokers on our website resource page? If so, is it ethical to list Kim while she is on the board? The committee agreed that this is fine.


10. Martha Parsons’ neighbor on Adel Cove, pickets in the garbage containers. The matter was discussed with no resolution.


Other Items Covered: 1.) The committee unanimously agreed to send a resolution in favor of AMD’s move to Oak Hill. The resolution will be sent to the Austin City Council, AMD, ANC, and Oak Hill Gazette. 2.) The screened tree design will be the design for the “Newcomer Bags.” $175.25 (half the payment) will be paid now and the final half will be paid upon delivery. 3.) Bob showed internet activity on the WNA website to be approximately 1,400 visitors a month. 4.) November 12, 2005 will be the date for the fall WNA Garage Sale.
