August 2022 YoM

August Yard of the Month was awarded to Susan & George Shineldecker who live at 4500 Langtry Lane at the corner of Yellow Rose Trail. Their yard was a shining star throughout the brutal heat of this incredibly hot and dry summer!   An abundance of Pride of Barbados, a huge bush of Yellow Bells, and a variety of colorful Lantana made the yard a showstopper!

The Shineldecker’s have recently installed Zoysia grass in the back yard and had a landscaper install limestone rock borders to all their beds & trees.
Sponsors of the Yard of the Month are Leaf Landscape ($50 gift certificate), Klingemanns Automotive (Oil change valued at $40), and Cypress Grill ($40 gift card). We appreciate the support of these sponsors!
September YOM will be awarded very soon and October YOM will go to the best Halloween decorated yard. December YOM will be awarded in late December for holiday decorations. You must be a paid member of the Association to be considered for YOM!

July 2022 YOM

July YOM was awarded to Cindy & Gus Cannon of 6018 Morning Dew. In March they began a complete new landscape in the front yard. Five years ago, they landscaped their backyard, planting trees and native plants which has become a sanctuary for birds & wildlife which has earned them certification as a Wildlife Habitat.  Keeping the guidelines of Wildlife Habitat in mind in designing the front yard, they selected plants that would attract & feed pollinators & birds.  Turks Cap, Barbados Cherry, Mexican feather grass, Plumbago, & a variety of agaves were planted in the front yard supported by a drip irrigation system which is keeping the plants happy during this dreadful heat wave we are experiencing!  Running water is a requirement of Wildlife Habitat & the Cannons have running water in a front yard birdbath and a tank in the backyard. Pictured with Gus & Cindy is their son Tyler who did most of the landscaping for his parents! Also seen in the pictures is their Children’s free library, a beautiful bench, an Adult library, & a mailbox fixture were built by Gus & add a rich enhancement to the yard! In order to win YOM, trash, recycling & compost bins must be screened or out of street view. Gus’s woodworking skills were put to good use in building the screen for their bins!
The couple was awarded gift cards to Klingemann Auto Center, Leaf Nursery, & Cypress Grill! WNA thanks these loyal YOM sponsors!
